About Cambodia’s administrative divisions and postal codes

Cambodia is divided into 24 provinces (khaet) and the capital Phnom Penh, which has the status of an autonomous municipality at provincial level. According to the General Population Census of the Kingdom of Cambodia 2019 (National Institute of Statistics), the country had 163 districts (srok/khan), 1,409 communes (khum/sangkat), and 14,545 villages (phum). More recent demographic data is available from the Cambodia Inter-Censal Population Survey 2024 (CIPS 2024, NIS).

Postal codes are issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications under Prakas no.77 on the implementation of the postal code. They cover capitals, provinces, municipalities, districts, khans, communes, and sangkats. Official postal code data is published by Open Development Cambodia (OD Mekong Datahub), with dataset reference date December 2025.
